It has been reported that Ron Artest’s four-year-old daughter, Diamond, has kidney cancer. This was the reason that he missed a game recently for what was reported at the time as “personal reasons.” I made a stupid little joke after that game, of course not knowing what the real cause of his absence was. It makes me look really stupid now, so let’s just forget what an awful person I am, mmmkay?

Normally doctors would advise to remove the cancerous kidney, but in the worst case of bad luck I have ever heard, Diamond was born with just one kidney. How Artest has continued to play with this horrendous news is beyond me. I now respect him even more than I did before. Any games he decides to miss for “personal reasons” will be met with no dumb jokes by me in the future. I just wish his little one all the best.
